Ringing for the Rose handbell concert deliciously kicks off summer

On June 2, 2024, Karen Harvey and UCC Norwell’s Celestial and Rockin’ Ringers held their “Ringing for the Rose” bell concert. This light-hearted and “feel good” music event and ice cream social was the perfect way to start off summer and was a successful fund-raising event for the Rose Conservatory in Brockton.

After weeks of practice, these dedicated musicians in the bell choirs masterfully performed a varied selection of difficult bell music to the delight of the roughly 130 people gathered in the audience as well as online viewers for the event. The concert was further enhanced by the moving vocal performance of the Rose Conservatory youth choir, led by Greg Fernandes, that featured 2 talented soloists.

The Rose Conservatory is an after-school program that brings the gift of music to the children of Brockton and is the recipient of our “Royalties for Spirituals” gifts that are in keeping with our church’s racial justice commitment. The ice cream social after the concert was a huge hit, with multiple toppings, homemade caramel and chocolate sauce, and 3 types of ice cream. It was enjoyed by all, children and adults alike.

If you happened to miss it, the “Ringing for the Rose” bell concert can still be viewed on our Youtube channel or on Norwell Spotlight TV's hyperlocal television channels, Comcast HD 1072, and Verizon 39.
