A church family for your family.

Church School at UCC Norwell

Our Church School and Children’s Programming runs concurrently with our 10am worship. We seek to support you in nurturing your children's faith and relationship with Jesus.

Our programs are rooted in exploring the Bible and empowering children to find their place in God's story. Through prayer, worship, play, and hands-on service, our children come to know the unfailing love of God and cultivate a personal relationship with Jesus.

During our program year (September through June), we provide Sunday morning care and Church School for children age 6 months through grade 5.

  • The youngest children (age 6 months - 3 years old) will be cared for in our Crib Room by dedicated staff and volunteers

  • Children age 4 and up are welcome to participate in our multi-sensory, hands-on learning environment during worship

  • Our curriculum is The Lectionary

  • If you have any questions, please contact our Children’s and Family Minister, Jenny Healy

Explorers

First Sunday of the month| 11:15-12:30pm

In addition to Church School, children in grades 4 and 5 also gather monthly to explore God’s word and dive deep into the adventure of Christian faith and life. To do so, we often go off-site on nature adventures allowing us to bask in the simplicity and glory of God’s gifts.

On the first Sunday of each month we will gather for games, adventure, and discipleship.

Children’s Chapel

On the first Sunday of each month, our children will gather for Children's Chapel and join their families for communion in the Sanctuary. Led by our our Children’s and Family Minister, Jenny Healy and our church school teachers, the children sing praise songs, listen to Bible stories, and engage in sacred play. This special child-centered worship service allows our children to be active participants in the joy of praise.

Vacation Bible Camp 2025

A highlight of our Children's Ministry at UCC Norwell is our annual Vacation Bible Camp (VBC) program. Each summer, our youth and adult volunteers garner their energy, joy, and faith to offer a week-long adventure in faith exploration for children ages kindergarten through grade 5. We welcome all to join us at VBC — children who are regular participants in our church family as well as children from the wider community. We had a blast at our 2024 Vacation Bible Camp, see the pictures below that prove it!

  • Peter Strobel, Associate Pastor

    Contact Peter Strobel

Rev. Peter Strobel was called to UCC Norwell into the position of Associate Pastor. His most recent call was as a Transition into Ministry (TiM) Associate Pastor at Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines, IA, from 2022 to 2024. Born in Missouri and raised in Kansas, he is a child of the Midwest having gone to college at Doane University in Crete, NE and spending the last few years ministering in Des Moines, IA. Although he grew up in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), Peter encountered the UCC at Doane University, where he graduated in 2019. Peter’s experiences with the UCC led him to New Haven, CT, where he received his Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School and Certificate of Congregational Ministry from Andover Newton Theological Seminary.

Peter believes community begins with church. He felt a special call towards children and teen ministry, believing we are drawn closer to God through supporting and caring for those who come after us. He hopes to dedicate this chapter of his ministry to growing and supporting existing children and teen programs at UCC Norwell and the south shore area. He brings lessons and programs he developed at Plymouth, including LEGO ministry, child and teen church curriculum planning, and leading a young adult program. Although Peter is new to Massachusetts and UCC Norwell, he believes this is a pivotal time for ministry and hopes to engage the congregation and community in faithful and fulfilling Christ centered community.

Peter’s role at UCC Norwell is still evolving, but you can find him working with Jenny Healy and Bob Caldeira to care for, teach, and support our kids, teens, and their families. As an Associate Pastor, he appreciates the opportunity to support Rev. Walt and collaborate with UCC Norwell’s and her vision for this moment.

He is blessed to share a life with his wife, Allie, and their cat, Millipop. When he isn’t at the church, you might catch him swimming, building with LEGOs, walking the ocean trails, playing video games, biking, playing Dungeons and Dragons, relaxing at Board Game cafes, or finding the best historical spots in the area.

    Contact jenny healy

jenny is a teacher and a student, a gardener and a bread baker, a quilter and a writer, a mum, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a disciple, a friend. While church was mostly absent from her life growing up, she always had this deep longing for and connection to Jesus. As an adult about to have her first child, jenny started going to church regularly. There, she found a spiritual home and the language to describe what she’d been feeling inside for so long.

Working with children has always been at the center of jenny’s heart, from her early babysitting days to college field work and summer jobs, to teaching at The Home for Little Wanderers and a paid position at her home church. jenny loves the hard questions, loves the mess, loves the connection building. jenny loves partnership with children as they explore the joys and responsibilities of being the hands and feet of Christ in this world and what it means to be God’s beloved, created in God’s image.

jenny loves this work, and she is honored to walk beside others all during this time.

Also, jenny loves berry picking, especially strawberries.
