Church Council: Meeting in a Minute | November 25, 2024
Church Council met on November 25, 2024. The recent Council meeting had important updates and decisions. Here's a summary of the key points discussed:
Generous bequests: The church received a significant bequest from the estate of Regina Robbins (godmother of Michael Dawson, husband of Laura Anderson) and another substantial bequest from the estate of Linda Falconiero.
Financial update:
UCC Norwell: The church's year-to-date operating result has shifted to a negative balance primarily due to timing of pledge payments and some specific expenses. Pledge collections have increased since September statements were sent.
Linden Ponds Community Church: Year-to-date LPCC is operating at a gain. Expenses are essentially on the budget for the year.
The New Nursery School: Showing operating profit with only three months of financials, but continues to be normal for this part of the fiscal year.
Annual Meeting plans: Plans for the upcoming Annual Meeting were discussed, including informational meetings and the in-person meeting itself.
Lawn sign policy: The council unanimously approved the new "Church Temporary Signage Policy."
Investment policy: The council unanimously approved the new Investment Policy, outlining guidelines for managing the church's various investment funds.
Pastor housing allowance: The council approved the reported housing allowance amounts for the pastors.
Linden Ponds pastor: The council unanimously approved the call of Reverend Barbara Therese to serve as the new pastor of the Linden Ponds Community Church, pending a congregational vote at the annual meeting.
