A historic meeting: UCC Norwell and the birth of South Shore Habitat for Humanity

In 1986, a significant event unfolded at 460 Main Street in Norwell, Massachusetts. Two members of the United Church of Christ in Norwell, Larry Carlson and John Galvin, had the privilege of meeting with President Jimmy Carter and Millard Fuller, the founder of Habitat for Humanity.

This gathering marked the official recognition of the newest Habitat affiliate, South Shore Habitat, an organization born from the vision and dedication of individuals within the Norwell community.

The meeting with such esteemed figures underscores the importance of this achievement. It serves as a testament to the commitment of UCC Norwell to social justice and its active role in fostering positive change within the South Shore region.
