Minister of Music (FT)
The United Church of Christ Norwell is a Christ-centered, inclusive community called to ministry located on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
We are seeking a full-time Minister of Music beginning July 1, 2025 for our 500 member congregation. The principal function is to be responsible to the church for developing, leading, and promoting all music selections and implementing all music ministries of the church in coordination with the Senior Pastor. We are aspiring to hire a Minister of Music who will be a strong leader possessing a passion for traditional and contemporary worship and a vision for musical excellence. Our goal is that through our worship music, God will be praised and glorified, people will be connected to each other, and we will spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
At present, UCC Norwell’s Music Ministry includes:
Sanctuary Choir - 30+ adult volunteer choir
Celestial Ringers - adult handbell choir playing 4 octaves of Schulmerich Bells
Rockin’ Ringers - youth handbell choir (Grades 4-8)
Cherub Chimes - childrens’ singing and chime choir (Grades K-3)
Throughout the year there are various musical events open to the community to share God’s message including:
Christmas Celebration Concerts (annual)
Musical Meditations for Advent and Lent (annual)
Handbell Concerts (biennial)
Veterans Concert (occasional)
Our Music Ministry mission statement is as follows: The Music Ministry Team is called to develop and implement a sustainable music program which deepens our faith and enlivens our spirit. Believing that music is important for all ages and abilities, we strive to serve our congregation and the people of God’s greater community through excellent and innovative music each week. With a diversity of offerings throughout the year, it is our hope that listeners and participants alike will experience the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

Administrative Assistant (PT)
United Church of Christ Norwell, a vibrant, growing and inclusive community serving the South Shore of Massachusetts, is hiring an Administrative Assistant to support the administrative functions of the church office. This position will involve coordinating communication efforts, maintaining records, and providing organizational support to staff, ministry teams, and church members. This person will serve as a welcoming presence for visitors and offer assistance with the day-to-day operations of the church.
Responsibilities:
Produce written communications, including Sunday bulletins, special event bulletins, annual meeting materials, and content for bulletin boards. Assist in creating other printed materials as requested by leadership or ministry teams.
Manage office email account.
Serve as a welcoming presence for all who enter the building. Provide appropriate information and guidance
Pick up, sort, and distribute incoming mail. Assist with church-related mailings as needed.
Distribute and track church keys to staff, volunteers, and approved individuals. Maintain a log for accountability and security.
Regularly update and maintain contact information for parishioners and friends of the church, including membership information and relevant mailing lists. Track attendance, baptisms, funerals, and other important records.
Serve as the point of contact for prayer requests. Maintain a prayer list and ensure it is updated weekly.
Respond to inquiries related to building usage. Ensure that event needs (such as room preparation, equipment, and supplies) are communicated to the Property Maintenance Manager.
Maintain an inventory of office and worship supplies, ensuring adequate stock and ordering replacements as needed.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of office equipment. Coordinate service calls as necessary.
Generally support administrative needs of all staff and lay leaders.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to interact professionally and warmly with staff, church members, and visitors
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office equipment
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and stay within the given hours.
Prior office or administrative experience preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
